I am a french user of the interesting Postcrossing project from its beginning. Beside the official exchange, which is now a nice routine, I wanted to find a special topic to go on in swapping in a different way and to replace the real trips I can't do yet. During the 2008's US Elections time I came to the idea of a virtual trip by postcards through USA. But USA is vast country and I had to find a special way : the mythic US Route 66, crossing USA from East to West, from Chicago to Santa Monica, finally imposed on me !
I also hope that this blog will be a space with interesting comments from US people living in the "visited" areas talking about the everyday life in those places.
Postcards and private swaps
Thanks to Postcrossing or other penpals websites, I will try to appeal to potential swappers to get postcards from the successive sites following US Route 66 (of course exchanged with same number of cards from my area).
Of course, if you read that blog and you are interested to swap for a special site, or just want to suggest a new interesting place to add in the theoretical itinerary, just mail me !
I want to go stage by stage, like a real trip, on the base of a theoretical itinerary.
Theoretical itinerary
